Culinary beds

The Culinary beds are planted with examples of plants used to flavour food, stilling herbs (for herbal concoctions and remedies) and sallets (medieval form of salad). These include chives, dill, borage, rampions, spearmint, peppermint and sweet basil.

Many of the herbs were sew and surgery plants i.e. dual-purpose herbs for culinary and medicinal use.
